University of Nigeria Nsukka has been named by the registrar of Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede among Universities that are granting illegal admissions.

Prof. Oloyede disclosed this at the consultative sensitisation meeting with selected stakeholders in Abuja.

He stated that the granting of illegal admissions was perpetrated in the the six geopolitical zones in the country including private and Public higher institutions

He revealed that the act has damaged the image of the country.

The illegal admissions according to him were given from 2017 to 2020

According to him about 114 Universities accounted for 67.795 illegal admissions and University of Nigeria Nsukka contributed 2,732 to it

However, other Universities include University of Jos(7,600), Benue State University (6,171), University of Calabar (2,074), NTA Television college(1,934) and Novena university(3,432) among other institutions

Oloyede mandated that the affected institutions should declare the number of candidates admitted outside CAPS between 2017 to 2020 by sending formal letter of confession and disclosure to JAMB registrar and revealed that those minimally qualified will be condoned to put an end to the period and finally put the matter to rest
